Robert Gaines Haile, of "F" Company, 55 Regiment Virginia Troops, relating experiences in the Seven Days Battle around Richmond, Va.; an article "Col. James Calvin Councill As a Teacher"; short sketches of the following schools in King and Queen County: Donald Robertson's Fleetwood Academy, Aberdeen Academy, Newton Academy, William Hill School, and other smaller ones; and Edwin Mottley, of King and Queen County's will.

Robert Gaines Haile was born 1 April 1832 and "Beavers Hill," Essex County, Va., the sone of Robert Gaines Haile, Sr. and Elizabeth Buckner Haile. He married Mary Susan Burke. Haile served in Co. F, 55th Virginia Regiment, Confederate Army. He was mortally wounded at Gaines Mill 30 June 1862. From the description of Diary, 1862 June 2-25. (College of William & Mary).
